It’s Easier to Get High Than Bet Online

Why is that?

I see this new wave of Marijuana reform as a good opportunity for the states and the nation. I think drugs aren’t the evil, nasty things that everyone wants you to believe they are. I feel good things can happen from drugs. I don’t think everyone should rush out and get high tomorrow, though. I feel this is the same approach that states should take with online gambling. I think it’s time for America to change how we think about betting.

Almost half of the states now have some form of recreational or mediational marijuana available for purchase. Fifteen states have legalized recreational marijuana. Once again, I think this is a great thing that can help many people, and I would love to see the same thing happen for gambling. As a person who loves sports and doesn’t mind wagering a few dollars on a specific team to get score more points or bet that this team will win, I would love to be able to gamble online.

It’s 2021 in the middle of a global pandemic. Do you want me to go to Las Vegas or drive hours to my closest casino? Why not just let me gamble online? States and local casinos will be opposed to this idea because fewer people visit their fine establishments. I’m assuming that the state makes a fair amount of money from casinos. So, I wanted to check with assumption and look into gambling for my state, and here is what I found.

At least in my state, gambling is only legal when the state holds a lottery or when you’re in a casino that’s on tribal lands. My state is against gambling in almost any other form, so I’m not that shocked that online gambling is illegal. Like the preconceived notions that individuals had about marijuana, online gambling is in the same boat. People are stuck in the past and not letting the natural change happen. The internet isn’t anything new, and doing everything online is going to be the future.

I still don’t see the harm in a person gambling online. If my state says I can do it in a casino, why not online too? I don’t think I understand the logic of saying this way is right when it comes to betting, but this other betting is terrible just because it’s online. I hope that states can work on letting people have the choice to choose.

I think that people should be able to do what they want as long as they aren’t hurting someone else. Drugs, gambling, and I’m sure other activities, can end up hurting people. It’s true for almost anything in life, though. If you do it too much and don’t have moderation, you can spiral out of control, and I don’t think this is the desire of most people.

I would love to bet online from a trusted company and not get some cryptocurrency company, where I have to use a VPN and jump through all the hoops just to bet $5 on sports. Soon, I hope gambling will be more accepted and available to more people in more states. Let the people follow their dreams and bet it all on black; what’s the worst that could happen?
